If you’ve been searching for a calligraphy workshop this beginner-friendly session is the perfect place to start—no experience needed. This hands-on experience is designed to help you slow down, switch off, and learn a beautiful and joyful new skill.
 
 
Modern calligraphy is creative and expressive way to create lettering - and using a brush tip even more so.
In this workshop you will learn the calligraphy rules - and how to break them - to create your own unique, fun style. It’s all about enjoying the process!
 
You will learn the essentials of modern calligraphy - how to position yourself, your paper and how to hold then pen, and then start with beginner brush strokes and mark making. You'll be practicing alphabets, upper and lowercase letter forms, and then eventually joining them into words and phrases.
 
Using the techniques you've learnt you will create your own hand lettered pieces that you can frame, or pop up on a shelf, and before long you’ll be creating cards, invitations , tags and labels for every gifting event in the calendar!
 
We use my brush calligraphy starter kit during the workshop and you take the tools and the templates home with you so you can keep practicing and creating.
 
As well as guiding the whole class with demonstrations and instructions, I will be there to provide you with one-on-one tuition and troubleshooting any issues you may come across.
 
Your brush pen, lettering guides, calligraphy alphabet templates, and useful words and quotes templates are all included + white card to complete your brush calligraphy final piece.
 
I also bring along a large selection of my coloured brush pens for you all to have a go at creating some joyful greeting cards at the end of each workshop - so there's lots to keep us going during the afternoon!
 
These Saturday afternoon workshops are 3 hours (1pm-4pm) and are held in the beautiful light-filled room at Highfield Park, St Albans. The room is fully accessible, on the ground floor, and has plenty of free parking outside.
