Join me to learn how to create beautiful lettering using brush pens in this modern, relaxed and informal style of calligraphy.
Modern calligraphy is creative and expressive way to create lettering - and using a brush tip even more so.
In this workshop you will learn the calligraphy rules - and how to break them - to create your own unique, fun style. It’s all about enjoying the process!
You will learn the essentials of modern calligraphy - how to position yourself, your paper and how to hold then pen, and then start with beginner brush strokes and mark making. You'll be practicing alphabets, upper and lowercase letter forms, and then eventually joining them into words and phrases.
Using the techniques you've learnt you will create your own hand lettered pieces that you can frame, or pop up on a shelf, and before long you’ll be creating cards, invitations , tags and labels for every gifting event in the calendar!
We use my brush lettering starter kit in the workshop and you take the tools and the templates home with you so you can keep practicing and creating at home. As well as guiding the whole class with demonstrations and instructions, I will be there to provide you with one-on-one tuition and troubleshooting any issues you may come across.
A Black brush pen, lettering guides, upper and lowercase alphabet templates, and calligraphy quote templates are all included + white card to complete your brush calligraphy final piece.
These Saturday afternoon workshops are 3 hours (1pm-4pm) and are held in the beautiful light-filled room at Highfield Park, St Albans. The room is fully accessible, on the ground floor, and has plenty of free parking outside.
